The most important things for the customer are as follows:Check the system for the correct time of day. Time of day is important as the systems are programmed to regenerate in the middle of the night. If you happen to run water while the system is in regeneration mode, it is possible to bring into the house what the system is trying to get rid of. This could be very salty and heavy mineral water. If you hear the systems running during the day do the following:
Check the salt tank when you check for power. The salt should be allowed to run almost out, Approximately 6" from the bottom of the salt tank before refilling.
Setting the clock on a water softener. Push the set clock and wait for the hours to start flashing. Push the up or the down button to change the value. Watch for the am/pm indicator on the top right. To go to the minutes push the set clock or the next button. Again, use the up or the down button to change the value. When complete push set clock and the time will stop flashing.
Setting the clock on a whole house carbon filter. Push and hold the set button until the hours start flashing. Push the up or down arrow to change the value. The pm indicator arrow will appear next to pm on the face. If there is not an arrow you will be in the am hours. When the hour is set, push the set button to change the minutes. Use the up and down arrows to change the value. Push set again this will stop the clock from flashing.
In case of leaks, put the system in bypass and call R&S Water Service.
If a hard freeeze is expected we recommend a slow trickle of water about the size of a pencil at several faucets in the house. Cover all exposed pipes. Do not put into bypass. If water pressure is lost leave faucets fully open until pressure returns.
Bypass for Kenmore, Whirlpool, and Ecowater systems
